Description
Are you worried about the high level of violence in today’s world? It seems the media are filled with incidents where people explode in rage, committing murder and mayhem, sometimes seemingly unexpectedly.
Dr. Anne Filosa Creekmore has written a book that both explains what’s going on and provides hope for a better future. She has analyzed the nature of the inner turmoil and pain that triggered the people who’ve made those terrifying headlines.
She also assures the reader that most people, even those with the most violent inner demons, do not actually commit violence. They “just” live their lives in needless pain and desperation.
And it’s not just a minority who’s afflicted with such pain. Dr. Creekmore argues that just about everybody has inner demons caused by childhood trauma and pain or abuse. Many people don’t even remember what happened as they have suppressed the memories. But the knowledge is still there, deep inside them, hurting them. Does this mean they have to live with their inner pain?
Fortunately, they won’t have to. There is plenty of hope and treatment available, including strategies they can use themselves, as explained in the second half of the book. In fact, the book helps them identify their own triggers as well as any imbalances they may have. But before they can claim the solution, they need to understand the origin of all that pain.
Dr. Creekmore explains that most of the problems she describes originate in a painful childhood. Children who go through abuse or other traumatic experiences often cope by suppressing their memories, or by creating an alternative persona who is not afflicted with those problems.
